How is Unicom’s gift card system integrated with existing systems? Our system is platform-independent and supports integrations with a wide range of POS systems and e-commerce platforms. We offer the following integration options, among others:

Gift card transaction exports to accounting can be automated using export files, and integrations can be customized based on specific needs.

What reporting features does the system provide?

Unicom’s gift card system automatically generates monthly reports on gift card usage and expiry. Reports are available in PDF and Excel formats and can be customized for each customer. In addition, a browser-based dashboard provides real-time analytics, including:

  • Current number of cards and balance status

  • Sales and usage by store

  • Monthly activations

  • Expiry analytics

  • Sales and usage analytics

How are gift cards managed?

The browser-based management interface allows users to check gift card balances, make corrections, and track transactions. The system supports separate user roles, such as administrators, customer service, and reporting users, which makes management easier across the organization.

Can the system be used without a POS integration?

Yes, we offer a browser-based partner interface that allows gift card loading and redemption transactions, as well as balance checks, without a POS integration. This is particularly useful for pop-up stores, for example.

How quickly can the gift card solution be implemented?

Implementation is fast and flexible, as our system is designed to integrate with different platforms without unnecessary dependencies. The timeline depends on the number of integrations and the customer’s specific needs.

How is security handled in the system?

The system is built with security in mind: the server environment is protected, card data is stored behind access controls, and user permissions are managed through role-based access control. Integrations are implemented through secure APIs.

Does the system work in different countries and currencies?

Yes. Unicom Enterprise supports multiple currencies and language versions, which makes it suitable for global use.

What happens to expired gift cards?

The system tracks expiry automatically and reports on it. The company can define the validity period and expiration rules for each gift card.

Can the system be used across multiple stores?

Yes. Gift cards can be used and managed centrally across different locations, including chain and franchise environments.

Can gift card usage be restricted?

Yes. For example, you can define that a gift card can only be used in certain stores or for specific product groups. A product group–specific gift card can also be used for tax-free employee reward gift cards. Can we brand Unicom and Unigift gift cards to match our own visual identity?

Yes. Unicom’s solution supports visual customization, allowing gift cards to be designed in line with your brand identity, both in printed and digital formats.

How do gift cards affect cash flow and financial administration?

Gift card sales generate cash flow in advance. From an accounting perspective, gift cards are recorded as a liability on the balance sheet and recognized as revenue only when they are redeemed. The system supports automatic reconciliation with accounting.

How many gift cards typically go unused?

Around 10% of gift cards are never used at all, and 85% are redeemed in full. This can generate significant additional revenue for the business.

Implementation and support

Yes, the system supports both consumer and business sales. B2B sales can be automated, for example through codes or bulk gift cards.
